I have bluntly told people that my home is not to be visited, for any reason ever past 7 p.m., and this only on Friday and Saturday evenings.
People at the KH think I'm a bit of an anti-social that way.
Oh, there are so many reasons why my poor hubby won't ever make it to be an elder as long as he continues married to me!

one thing i haven't been able to successfully find or understand is how other major religions feel about the end of the system or the final judgement from god.. i've seen the left behind series.
do protestants in general feel that there will be a literal earth with people on it?.
do catholics believe that human spirits will be united with their physical bodies after the final judgement?.
I work with this Baptist lady and they believe when they die they'll go to heaven until the earth is cleaned up and then return and live on earth for ever in a paradise.
Her faith concentrates more in going to heaven after death and letting God take over from them as to what their purpose will be.
She's a very nice lady. I like her a lot.

i was one, when in, that believed it was the best thing to share your talents with those of the bretheren.
where you a plumber, a carpenter, an auto mechanic?
then it would behoove you to take those skills and give them to the community of your brothers and sisters.
I don't give/share much of anything anymore. Part of my 'slow separation' tactic.
However, my husband, who is a hard working and very skilled man gives so much of his work/time/materials/money. I get sick and angry just thinking about it.

I heard of certain single young elder that liked to do "shepherding calls" to young widow sisters or those that had no husbands at home but did have young children.
One time, this same single young elder was caught walking to her door with a 6-pack of beer on hand. Do you all think he was going to talk to her about how the holy spirit operates?!
When down the road he decided to marry somebody else, this widow sister he used to do "shepherding calls" to tried to commit suicide.

so my brother and i have been having talks about what will happen when our dad passes away eventually.
most of his brothers and sisters have died in their 50's or early 60's.
i flat out refuse to attend any part of the service that would be done at the kingdom hall.
Unless the JW that died was a close friend, that I felt really cared about me, I wouldn't go. I've skipped quite a few in the last 10 years.

i already bought 2 door cars, and the witnesses didn't like it... i felt looked down upon, as it was a sin to buy a 2 door car.. now imagine an elder buying a 2 door car....
The 2-door, as opposed to 4-door cars for JWs is just a myth. Cars, regardless of the style/make/model/year or whatever else is a personal preference.
Truth be told, I've been in there all my life, and the care issue has always been a personal preference. I've never heard anyone say stuff like "2-door cars are non-theocratic" or any other stuff even remotely similar to it.

i am slowly ramping up the wheels of apostacy and have begun telling a few people to help brace the fallout of me telling my wife.
i have many relatives that aren't jws - both on my side and on my wife's side.
i've already told my dad (who was never a jw - to which i am eternally grateful), and some nonjw business people that i am also friends with.. my wife's brother was never a jw.
You're going about it correctly, preparing the turf and all. Good for you!
